Local SEO client reporting template
The short answer
A good monthly local SEO report fits on one page: a before and after rank map, new reviews, profile activity, what you did, and what comes next. Open with the one result the client cares about, keep every number tied to a date, and say plainly when something did not move.

What should a monthly local SEO report include?
Our suggestion is six parts, in this order. Each one answers a question a business owner will ask.
- Headline: one sentence on the main change this month.
- Rank map: the same search and area, run at the start and now.
- Reviews: new reviews, current rating and how many you replied to.
- Profile activity: calls, direction requests, bookings and impressions.
- What we did: three or four lines.
- What is next, and what we need from you.
What does a filled-in report look like?
The template below uses made-up numbers for an imaginary dental clinic. They are examples only and show the layout, not a result anyone should expect. Replace every bracket and number with your client's own.
Example monthly report (made-up numbers, for illustration only)
LOCAL SEO REPORT: [Client name], [Month] Headline In the "emergency dentist" map check, the clinic shows in the top three at 6 of 9 points, up from 2 of 9 on [start date]. (Example numbers.) Rank map Before: [date], 3x3 grid, "emergency dentist", spacing [x] miles. After: [date], same grid, same search, same spacing. Still weak: the two points furthest north, where [competitor] holds the top spot. Reviews New reviews: 7. Rating: 4.6. Replied to: 7 of 7. (Example numbers.) Profile activity (Google Business Profile) Calls: 41 (last month 33). Direction requests: 58 (last month 49). (Example numbers.) What we did - Corrected the primary category on the profile - Started a review request after each visit - Added photos of the new waiting room What is next - Review the northern points and test a location page for that area - Run the map again on [date] What we need from you - Photos of the team by the 15th
How do I build the before and after rank map?
Run the first grid before you change anything. Run the second with the same search, the same area and the same spacing, so the two are fair to compare. Our guide on proving local SEO results goes through the steps.
Reputant runs 3x3 and 5x5 grids on request and shows the competitor holding each spot. A keyword can run again once 14 days have passed. Scheduled runs are not available yet, so put the dates in your calendar and start each run yourself.
Google says its local results are mainly based on relevance, distance and prominence, in its page on improving local ranking. Distance is why a map reads better than one rank number: the answer changes with where the searcher stands.
Which numbers can Reputant give me for the report?
Reputant shows the rank grid with the competitor at each point, a feed of a client's Google reviews and Facebook recommendations, and the Google Business Profile performance figures: impressions, calls, directions and bookings. Anything else in the table below comes from your own tools or from the client.
| Report part | From Reputant today | From elsewhere |
|---|---|---|
| Rank map | Yes, 3x3 or 5x5 grid with competitors | |
| Reviews and replies | Yes, Google and Facebook | Yelp and others from their own sites |
| Calls, directions, bookings | Yes, from profile performance data | |
| Website traffic | No | Your analytics tool |
| Leads or sales | No | The client |
How do I send the report to the client?
White-label reports with your logo and client logins are in development, with no public date. Today you screenshot the two maps, paste the numbers into your own document and email it, or walk through it on a short call.
Put the schedule in the quote so the client knows when to expect it. Our guide to pricing local SEO services covers what to include.
What if the numbers did not improve?
Say so in the headline, give your best explanation and name the change you will make. Our suggestion is never to claim your work caused a change you cannot show. "This improved after we did X" is a fair line.
